Memphis Meltdown 'Shout for Cash!'

To generate a real buzz for Memphis Meltdown’s ‘WIN CASH INSTANTLY’ on-stick promotion, The Radio Bureau, OMD & The Edge teamed up to create an incredibly engaging (and very loud) promotion of our own!

We wanted to celebrate this great partnership with some of our agency friends, so we ran a small agency competition with FM-equipped iPod Nano's as the prize.

We're delighted to announce that Beena Unka (OMD), and Ellana Scharvi(Mediaedge:cia) were the lucky winners! They'll both be enjoying the brand new iPod Nano with 'Live Pause' FM-Radio and built in video camera just in time for Christmas!

Measuring the Noise!

With a sensitive, volume-measuring decibel meter and eye-catching Memphis Meltdown ‘SHOUT FOR CASH’ signage, The Edge Road Runners toured the country to find NZ’s loudest shouter.

Pulling in the Crowds

Trailers, extensive web coverage and street sampling built awareness, whilst live crosses, adlibs and video coverage delivered the crowds.

Participants got to soothe their throats with an ice cold Memphis Meltdown & daily winners took home $500.

Live Updates

A live leader board was prominently hosted on The Edge website. The board was updated daily, listing each day's winners along with their winning decibel level.

The leader boad was popular with people who'd already taken part and were eager to see where they sat in each day's rankings.

It was also used by people hoping to take part in upcoming heats, to check out the Decibel Reading they needed to beat!

The Winner!

Wendy Anderson from Nelson was officially the loudest shouter in New Zealand, managing to nudge the decible meter up to 117.1 decibels. That's louder than a jackhammer, a chainsaw and a motorcyle and only just below a typical clap of thunder!

Thanks to Memphis Meltdown and The Edge, Wendy took home $5,000 cash. Listen to just how excited she got by clicking on the 'live cross' link above (you might want to turn your volume down!)
