2021 Outstanding Radio Creative Awards (ORCA) winners have today been announced, with FCB winning across both major categories.
The Grand ORCA winners for 2021 are Adam Redmond & Emerson Hunt (FCB) for their PAK'nSAVE campaign Meat Hijack. They received a $10,000 cash prize and a $10,000 client radio campaign.
“We’re stoked to win and with Meat Week’s low prices, we’re always winning”, say the pair.
People’s Choice Award winners are Lauren Southon, Maraea Walker, Slade Gill & Hywel James (FCB) for their NZ Police campaign Enjoy The View. The group was awarded a $2,000 cash prize and a $5,000 client radio campaign. Maraea Walker was previously a Student ORCA winner in 2019.
Judging was based on four criteria: creativity, execution, effectiveness and innovation. The 2021 panel consisted of Maria Devereux (Colenso BBDO), Ralph van Dijk (Eardrum), Lisa Fedyszyn (Special Group), Tony Clewett (Federation) and Kim Ellison (Stanley St).
Media Design School students Bella Rakete & Courtney Andersen took top honours in the Student ORCA competition for their campaign Language of Now, aimed at encouraging Kiwi’s to learn and integrate te reo Māori into their daily lives.
In second place were AUT University students Reece O’Gorman & Connor Cully for their campaign Kiri.
The Student ORCA judging panel included Simon Vicars (Colenso BBDO), Raymond Otene McKay (RUN) and Bex Radford.
Each year The Radio Bureau set out to recognise outstanding radio creative with the ORCA. TRB aims to encourage creatives in the advertising industry to let their talents loose and explore the many options afforded by radio.
